Early 2018, VGZ asked me to become the creative lead for the redesign of the VGZ Mindfulness app. The design of existing app was 3+ years old, had very little content and was in need for fresh ideas and a new visual design.

I’ve been responsible for the creation of the new visual design, a functionality roadmap (based on user feedback) and leading the content creation team.

Results

  • Nearly 1,000,000 downloads.

  • A rating of 4+ stars in both the Apple store and the Google Play Store.

  • An average of 75,000 unique users per month.

What I learned

  • Content creation (in this case audio) is really hard. Don’t try to do it yourself. Reach out to independent artists and creators, they’ll be willing to work with your budget when the potential reach is big enough.

  • Working with health insurance companies can be fruitful and enjoyable, without the need to wear a suit.

  • Personally I learned the value of mindfulness and meditation. Haven’t skipped a day since.
