Product Manager

I’ve been the Creative lead and digital designer for the official Eurovision Song Contest app and voting website since 2020, creating the ultimate platform for Eurovision ‘Superfans’. My responsibilities include pitching, ideation, design, and ongoing improvements, beginning with a much-needed redesign in 2020.

World wide voting

Last year Eurovision introduced worldwide voting. I played a crucial role in this change by designing Eurovision's voting website/app, utilising our live data platform, Based, to power the voting in the 2023 edition.

Approaching the website's design as a conversion funnel, I aimed to create a frictionless voting experience while visually capturing the Eurovision spirit. Accessibility was a critical aspect, given that the whole world would be voting, necessitating optimisation for various writing systems, unfamiliar browsers, and diverse screen sizes.

The introduction of worldwide voting has been a resounding success, attracting over 100,000 unique new viewers from around the world. On average, each person cast eight paid votes.

Live cheering

Over the years, I’ve introduced numerous features to the app. Notably, the ‘live cheering’ feature stands out. During the COVID-19 pandemic, with no live audience at the finals, I proposed a way for viewers to cheer virtually from home through the app.

Drawing from UX patterns seen in live streams on social media platforms, this feature fostered a sense of togetherness during a time when many were confined indoors.

Results:

  • 6+ million unique users across both app and esc.vote in 2023.

  • 100k+ unique users on online voting in 2023.

  • 10+ million downloads on Apple Store and Google Play Store
